Property Description

Ref. 541 Elegance, History, and the French Art of Living:
Built on a rocky promontory, this remarkable feudal watchtower majestically overlooks its surrounding territory.
A true emblem of medieval Corrèze architecture, it is one of the region's finest heritage sites, located in the heart of the former viscounty of Turenne, on the edge of the diocese of Travassac.
The west tower dates from the 18th century, while the main building dates back to the 16th century. The turrets and the Italianate balustraded gallery bear witness to the refinement of the Renaissance. The façade retains superb red stonework from Collonges-la-Rouge, a rare and precious architectural signature.
Until 1830, the château belonged to the English nobility. Between 1440 and 1500, it passed through several owners before being acquired by the d'Aubusson de la Feuillade family, who retained it for over three centuries. It was then purchased by the De Jouvenel family. Henri de Jouvenel was the husband of the famous writer Colette, who stayed there for eleven years and drew inspiration for several works, notably 'Le Blé en herbe' (The Ripening Seed).

In 1956, acquired by a family from the Corrèze region, the estate became a prestigious hotel and restaurant, a member of Relais & Châteaux, and has hosted several Michelin-starred chefs.

A rare estate with remarkable amenities:
The entrance to the estate has retained all its elegance. A majestic driveway winds through a refined undergrowth of hornbeams and plane trees before reaching the château's esplanade.

From the vast, sun-drenched terrace, the views open onto a distant, pastoral panorama of rare serenity. The gardens reveal a landscaped parkland featuring numerous remarkable species: cedars, magnolias, yews, and other ornamental trees. Tennis courts, a swimming pool, and parking harmoniously complement the property without detracting from its enchanting atmosphere.

Accommodation and Events: The château offers 26 bedrooms in its main building, supplemented by 10 additional bedrooms in an elegant annex called Le Cottage.
The reception areas include lounges, a bar, dining rooms, luggage storage, and numerous other social spaces that can be adapted to suit various needs.
Within the wooded parkland of over 16 hectares, several outbuildings enhance the property, including the Orangery, which can accommodate approximately 100 guests, and a second event space located near the swimming pool with a capacity of around 300 people.
The entire property offers nearly 3,000 square meters of living space, providing exceptional potential for a private residence, a large family home, or a very high-end hotel project.

A strategic location blending heritage and the art of living:
Located in the Corrèze region, near Brive-la-Gaillarde, just 15 minutes from Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne Airport and 10 minutes from the A20 (Paris/Toulouse) and A89 (Lyon/Bordeaux) motorways, the estate enjoys exceptional accessibility.

In the immediate vicinity: Collonges-la-Rouge, Rocamadour, Martel, Sarlat, Aubazine (a favorite of Coco Chanel), as well as the most beautiful sites of the Périgord and Quercy regions.

Throughout the centuries, this château has evolved with elegance while remaining true to its soul.
Today, it stands as a unique property, combining prestige, history, discretion, and excellence.
