Write the rest of the history of this castle built in the 13th century in the heart of the estate. After around fifty years of pampering it, exploiting it and enjoying it, on October 30, 2023, its owners made the decision to pass the torch. Their trust honors and obliges me.
A little history: 'In the state of our knowledge, it is impossible to specify the time of their construction in the 13th century, but the similarity of forms and implementations allows us to consider that the six preserved city gates belong to of an overall program executed in a relatively short period of time. In the 16th century, the noble Bertrand Pauc was lord of the lair of 'La Rue', but under the sovereignty of the Bishop of Tulle. In 1677, Monsieur de Chauffour, married to Marguerite Pauc de la Rue, owned a lair called 'La Rue' composed of a castle, chapel, house, stables, barns, dovecote, garden, land, pastures and woods. The Vidal de Lapize succeeded the de Chauffour in the 18th century, then the de Montmaur by marriage, becoming lords of La Rhue. The property was sold in 1900 to Mr René Gautier du Mans'. The last owner family, after exploiting the land, renovating and maintaining the castle, transformed the magnificent stables of the castle into a charming hotel. In recent years operated as a prestigious large-capacity gîte, the premises could regain their function as an intimate luxury hotel. The castle, although habitable as it is, will have to undergo modernization and renovation work depending on the projects. No less than thirty rooms fit into the various volumes that you can easily reassign.
