Additional Details
Additional Details – Historical Background
The estate known as La Jagaisière is a documented noble property whose origins date back to the late Middle Ages, with architectural elements from several significant historical periods.
The manor is mentioned as early as 1390 and appears on historic maps, including Jaillot’s map (1706) and the Cassini map (circa 1760). It became the property of the de La Porte family in the 17th century and remained a major agricultural and noble estate of the area throughout the following centuries.
Parts of the manor date from the 13th and 14th centuries, including a remarkable medieval stone fireplace, original masonry, and blocked openings visible on the northern gable. A southern pavilion wing was added in the second half of the 16th century, possibly around 1568, and further significant remodelling took place in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, as evidenced by several period fireplaces still in place today.
During the 19th century, the estate was reunified and developed into one of the most important farms in the commune, with additional agricultural buildings constructed or rebuilt using earlier stonework. The entrance tower, barns, stables and ancillary buildings reflect this long and layered history.
The buildings are constructed primarily of local sandstone rubble stone, with slate roofs, and retain many original architectural features such as historic fireplaces, stone openings, timber lintels and traditional roof structures.
Today, La Jagaisière stands as a rare and authentic historic manor, offering a unique combination of documented heritage, architectural character and potential for future use, while remaining a private property.
Revenue Generation
Income Generation
The property currently generates modest agricultural income, without requiring intensive exploitation.
A saffron plantation has been established on approximately 1,500 sqm, with around 60,000 bulbs, cultivated using permaculture principles. This activity has been developed on a small scale and may be continued or adapted according to the future owner’s wishes.
In addition, part of the land is used for hay production, generating supplementary income through local sales.
The land has been managed under organic (BIO) standards for over 10 years, ensuring excellent soil quality and long-term sustainability. There is no obligation to continue any agricultural activity, and the income-generating uses remain entirely optional.
This setup offers a flexible opportunity for buyers interested in eco-living, small-scale farming, or supplementary rural income, while also allowing the property to be enjoyed purely as a private country residence.
