Property Description
This former abbey, whose oldest document dates back to the 14th Century, is one of the three noble secular abbeys of the Soule, still called today by the inhabitants of the village: the Castle. It has been lovingly and professionally restored. Five lineages of Lords followed one another at the Château and from 1987 to 2000 the large salon of the abbey welcomed the village school.
The property consists of three floors in two wings. On the ground floor of the left wing, a grand reception (54.92m2), with a mosaic floor, which was commissioned to the mosaicist of the Bardo Museum in Tunis, and a frieze surrounding the terracotta tiles at the edge of the mosaic created by the owners. The doors were designed according to the discovery of the archers, medieval style. The first floor of the left wing, accessed by a monumental staircase, offers a large bedroom with en-suite shower room, and on the second floor is a gallery with views to the mountains of the Basse Soule, and a grand library on the landing, as well as a very large study / bedroom, also with en-suite shower room. On the third floor is a home cinema.
The ground floor of the right wing provides the kitchen, a small salon, the billard room and an office / bedroom. On the first floor of this wing are the office, two further bedrooms and the master bedroom with the en-suite bathroom Louis XV and a large dressing. The third floor of the right wing has an attic, which could be transformed into further accommodation.
The château is close to the ski stations, the Atlantic coast and several touristic towns and villages, as well as Spain, with San Sebastian only 1h50 away. Distance to airports: Pau 1h, Biarritz 1h20, Bordeaux and Toulouse 2h45.
